Due to the diversity of the different ethnic groups, Singapore has woven itself into a colorful tapestry of cultures. The name Singapore comes from Sanskrit - which describes the different varieties of ancient Indian - and is composed of the terms Singha (= lion) and Pura (= city). So Singapore literally means "lion city"!

And a mighty "roar" pierces the city streets every year when the Singapore Grand Prix is held in the city-state. On the five-kilometer Marina Bay Street Circuit, the Formula 1 bolides race along the harbor and the city center - a spectacular experience for visitors from all over the world!
